I like this

I really like the melody and progression and that. I really don't like the drum beat, but I'm guessing you're using the FL sequencer? That's a bitch to make authentic-sounding beats with.

But that's personal preference, I like the song, 5/5 voted. 8/10 review just for the fact it doesn't sound quite right with the drums to me, but voted 5/5

I'm doing practically everything in the Piano Roll.
I think it is the hi-hats you dislike, but I can tell you I use a quite standard way of doing the "hi-hat beat". It gives a much more complete sound, I can promise that you would think worse of it if I only put the hi-hats on every 8 step :)

Thank you so kindly, share the track to your trance friends. I really like the criticism.

Fair enough

The filters you used click a bit when you bring them in. They work though.

My only beef is that this is the actual song, you haven't added anything to the sample at all, I know it's a rework but you haven't added anything other than filters. That's not very kosher in my opinion.

7/10 purely for the filters, because they click

Not commenting on the song because it's not yours; chopping that sample and adding a phaser don't really constitute a song.

codeb1219 responds:

Like I said, I recently learned how to use filters. This was just me practicing using them efficiently. I know it clicks, and I've been working on improving the quality of my projects.

And as for the song itself, I understand I didn't add anything. I just sampled it because it was easier to line the samples up, because I used separate audio tracks; one for the melody, and the other for the vocals.

I understand this song lacks originality, but like I said, it was merely a practice in sampling and filters.

Very nice.

Really good stuff, sounds a bit bass-heavy in the mix (like kick and bass) maybe a touch too many subs <60Hz, but that's just a personal preference and doesn't detract from it being a great tune. In general. Lots of nice melodies and synths and kept me interested for the whole thing

Great 5/5.

Cool stuff

Really like it, I would have gone with less reverb on the drums, but that's a personal preference really. Nice tune. I like the different bass riffs and the timing on the bass, you could really expand on that and change it up. 8/10 but I voted 5/5 because that's fair given the fact it's your first tune with vocals and people get blammed here too much.

bornacar responds:

Thank you for listening:) Nice tip for the drum reverb...and you`re right too, something sounded wrong to me and I can see that`s exactly it. Once again tnx, really appreciate it.

Really good stuff.

What's the bass done in? Really like that infected-mushroom style sound. Really nice production overall. Interesting sounds throughout.

nightsurfermusic responds:

The bass was a sample I had, but for psy trance, the bass is a pretty simple sine wave of sorts, with some distortions added. Look for tuts on Youtube, you'll find something. :D

Quality

Considering you're using the stock FL I'm impressed. I fucking hated it so much.

Really nice tune, some of the phased lead is a bit loud and kills what's underneath, but it's really really good for stock FL. I enjoyed it. And that's a hard job making it interesting for a long track.

Cool beans.

Quality stuff.

Really like it man. Like the beat and the bass stabs and that. Not a massive fan of the steel-drum lead, but that's a personal thing won't rate you down for that. The melody and bass and change-ups are really good, real good production.

Cool stuff.

fx0606 responds:

thank's :)

Really cool stuff man

Really like this. What the hell do you produce stuff like this with? I love it. I've never looked into 8bit production before. Sounds really authentic man. Would love to know what you do it with.

But yeah, really quality. Love the drums and all the synths. Reminds me of doing flips on Dizzy. Love it. 10/10 5/5

midimachine responds:

For my 8-bit stuff I use a Game Boy (the old brick one, a.k.a. DMG-001) running a program called littlesounddj (LSDJ). You can get USB cartridges made by a company called EMS and you put the LSDJ rom on the cartridge which is what I've done here. Failing that, you can just run LSDJ in an emulator and it should work okay but it sounds way better and feels way cooler using a Game Boy.

Thanks for the review! :)

Nice

Nice sounds and production, kick seems a bit understated but that's just my opinion. Like the pad sounds and the phased stab thing. I like the metallic electro sound of the beat. It's different. Good stuff man.

Not bad

Really like the piano sounds, could do with a bit more effects on the piano though, to widen it up a touch, and a bit more presence on it.

Nice beat too, not too heavy.

Only beef really is you're doing a very similar cover of it, so you might come up against some stick from Deadmau5 fans.

TheElementalProdigy responds:

for now, I believe the intro will be very similar. I really just fell in love with the piano part, and the synth, and soft kick and clap are a must. It will be different! I swear! XD
thanks for the review.
